ULab help - manage sundry items

Sundry items are smaller pieces of kit that are needed/ used by one or more pieces of equipment in your lab e.g. pumps, tubing, racks.  Once associated with your equipment, ULab will then keep track of the amount of sundry items availalbe, and prevent bookings when the number of sundry items have been used.

Finance module

If you have the optional finance module in ULab, sundry items can also be used to charge additional 'per hour' rates on bookings.  For example if a piece of equipment can be set up to run in 2 modes you can set up additional charge rates to reflect the different costs for each mode of operation. In standard mode it is charged at the normal rate (say £20/hour), by setting a charge on a sundry item (say £12) any booking made using this sundry will be charged to include the additional cost (£32/hour).  This will be shown in the BIF charging report.

To set a charge on a sundry item, edit the item and set the charge per hour:

Once the sundry charge it set, the user should select this mode when booking:

The booking is then saved/handled as normal.  When you go to view the charging/BIF report, the additional costs will be factored in to the report:

Sundry item charging works as an additional charge on the 'base' hourly charge set via other charging options (internal/external, group, project codes etc.). Multiple sundry items can be allocated to one piece of equipment to give the option of having different additional hourly charges for different modes of operation.
